Is there something that you really want to get done, but every time you sit down to do it something else comes up? The game is on, the refrigerator needs to be cleaned, or the elliptical machine needs to be dusted off and used right now? Maybe it’s an application for a new job, or for graduate school, or even an online dating profile so you can meet the person of your dreams.
The question is, what are you getting out of waiting? If you really and truly wanted that thing to be done, it would be done. If you just had a newborn baby, and the only way this baby was going to eat was if you finished a certain paper, then you would have it done today. (Maybe that’s an extreme example, and I hope you’re never in any situation like this, but I trust it brought the point home.)
The fact is, whether you realize it or not, you are getting something out of putting it off. Maybe you know it consciously, maybe not, but it is definitely something. As coaches we find walls like this that people have built for whatever reason, we break them down together, and create permanent transformations. Does that sound like something you’d like to try on?
