Ask People How They Feel

Did your boss give you a project that doesn’t fit you and you think it’s because they don’t understand you?  Did you go on a date, not hear from the person for two days after, then assume they aren’t interested?  

Assumptions as a whole are a slippery slope, but especially so when it comes to assuming how someone else feels.  Any action at all that you take based on your assumptions is very dangerous.  Maybe the date was interested in you and just got swamped for a couple days.  Maybe it was how you were going to prove that you’re worthy of a huge promotion.  And the longer these actions continue, the further you go down the wrong path.  

Ask people how they feel.  This avoids assumptions, it greatly prevents misunderstandings, and it keeps you from going down the wrong path.
