I heard two different examples this week where someone was talking about a past relationship and when asked how they felt in this relationship, they weren’t their best self. They were giving up part of themselves, intentionally or not, to make this person happy for whatever reason.
In a good, healthy relationship, you are in your essence with that person. That’s not to say you don’t have feelings for the people with whom you aren’t. You may even have lots of good feelings for them. But you want to be with someone that when you’re around them, you are truly being you.
Be your best self, especially in your relationships.
