Quite a title I know! One amazing thing I’ve noticed while coaching is that every single person I speak with, regardless of career choice, says the exact same thing at one time or another. “I don’t like _____ about my job but I can’t fix it. I know it sounds easy to you, but you don’t understand how hard it is. I work at _____ so there’s nothing I can do about it.” I have heard this from every single (employed) client that I’ve spoken with about something. This goes beyond employment too, I see it in romantic situations, in living situations, and more.
You can always blame other people for making a situation impossible. You can always blame your housing, spouse, significant other, roommate, friends, the host of your favorite radio show, electric company, or whatever. But as long as you make yourself a victim of that, you’re giving away control of the situation.
Victimism gives away your future. If you can’t live with it without complaining, then ask yourself what you can do to change the situation and change it. Be the change you wish to see in the world, and don’t be a victim.
