Meet People Where They Are

I know it’s probably against popular trends to post about Nelson Mandela several days after his passing, but I’m going to do it anyway. Here’s another quote for today: “If you talk to a man in a language he understands, that goes to his head. If you talk to him in his language, that goes to his heart.”

If you find yourself not connecting with someone with whom you’d like to, think about their language.  What moves them, what gets them excited?  That is how to reach someone’s heart, instead of their head.  When you do speak their language, you inspire people to live in possibility, and they will bring the same out of you.

Meet people where they are. It brings out the best in others, and brings their best back to you.
