Every time I get on an airplane, I’m reminded of healthy priorities. They tell you that in the event of a crash, you are to put your mask on first before securing anyone else’s, even that of a child next to you. Self-preservation needs to be the top priority, without it you are not at your strongest to help others. Today I want to remind you that this applies to everyday life as well.
If something happens to compromise your health, either short-term or long-term, things will change in a huge hurry. Whatever great work you were doing does not continue while you are out. Fitness built gets almost reset after a long injury. Relationships can change quickly as you change. It is imperative that you do what you can to maintain self-care in order to not derail yourself.
If you are sick, stay home and rest. If something seems likely to produce an injury, take all precautions or consider not doing it. Keep a good diet and exercise so that you minimize your risk of things like high blood pressure, high cholesterol, and heart attack.
Self care comes first. Always remember to take care of yourself as your top priority, no matter what is happening.
