Gratitude

This time of year is the perfect time to remember how strong of a concept gratitude is. Mainly due to corporations and advertising, Thanksgiving is portrayed largely a holiday about food and football and preparing to shop, but that does not mean you have to join the masses. You can still make Thanksgiving about gratitude.

Think of gratitude as a muscle. When a muscle is not used for a long period of time, it goes to atrophy and becomes very difficult to access. When a muscle is used, it becomes bigger and stronger, and more accessible. Gratitude is no different. When you practice using this muscle, it becomes easier and more natural. Gratitude flows through you in new ways, ways that you did not know were possible before you started practicing. When you don’t practice, it may be very unnatural to start, but that is no different than any new machine at the gym. Eventually it gets easy.

Gratitude. It is a wonderful thing which can become a natural part of your being with just a little bit of practice.
