Sometimes we have really big goals. This can be in any walk of life, maybe it is to finally find a great relationship, or to finally lose the weight you’ve been trying to lose, or to break a certain threshold of income. Whatever the case may be, breaking through these goals usually involves shedding a few things which are happening now. You can’t live in a mansion without first leaving the apartment in which you live. You can’t drastically increase your income if you stay in your current full-time job. You can’t find the love of your life while you are on another casual date with the person who isn’t. This is all common sense, yet the act of shedding what doesn’t serve us can still be very difficult.
If you truly want something, then acknowledge that it may take some big steps to get it. Some of these big steps may involve letting go of things which are making us happy today, but are not serving us. I still remember how nervous I was leaving a wonderful job and apartment in Maryland for an unexplored position and place. It was scary, it was super nerve-wracking, and every single time I see a sunset on the beach I’m reminded of how happy I am that I did it.
Don’t be afraid to let go. If you really want something new and different, you will need to let go of some things which aren’t serving this goal.
